Locksmith Toronto F.A.Q. - Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I have several locks on my doors that I would like to be operated with one key. Is this possible?
A: That depends on if the locks are all made by the same manufacturer. If not, Locksmith Toronto can asses the situation
and make recommendations on how this can work for you.
Q: I have a key that says "Do Not Duplicate". Is it possible for you to make a copy for me?
A: There are many valid reasons that "Do Not Duplicate" might be imprinted on the key head. Unfortunately we would not be
able to make a duplicate key for you.
Q: My key is very hard to turn. Should I force it until the lock opens for me?
A: This is not a good idea. Most keys are made of brass which is a soft metal. Exerting excessive force will
likely break the head of the key off. Your best option is to seek the help
of a Professional Locksmith at the first sign of trouble.
Q: Is WD-40® a good lubricant for locks and lock parts?
A: WD-40® is ok but most lock manufacturers recommend Dry Graphite as a lock lubricant.
Q: I reside in a Condominium. Is your company able to rekey my lock?
A: That really depends on if your Condominium Corporation reqires that the lock be master keyed. If the lock has to be
Master Keyed we recommend that you get in contact with the Locksmith Company that put the Master Key Sytem in place.
We make this recommendation because of the liability factor involved for our company.
Q: I am locking a Residential Tenant out of my property. Do I need the Ontario Sheriff to attend and serve the Eviction Notice?
A: Absolutely! We will not lock a Residential Tenant out without the assistance of the Ontario Sheriff. The proper papers
must be filed in court and the residential lockout must go through it's due process. It is
illegal to lock out a Residential Tenant in any other manner.
Q: I am locking a Commercial Tenant out of my property. Do I need the Ontario Sheriff to attend and serve the Eviction Notice?
A: There is no due process for locking a Commercial Tenant out of your property, however, you should employ the services of
the Ontario Bailiff to help keep the lockout legal. You should also retain Legal Counsel to
compose a letter to be posted in the premises of a means for the Tenant to access and retrieve any property left behind due
to the lockout. You should also inform the local Police Division of your intent to take back the property and provide them
with all the information you have.
Q: Can I book a weekend appointment in advance and save money?
A: Yes! We provide our services on weekends at weekday rates provided you book an appointment during regular weekday business hours.
Some stipulations do apply. See our "Advance Weekend Booking" page for further information.
